MEMORIA
La casa AV se encuentra emplazada en un sitio de pendiente pronunciada. Se trata de un terreno accidentado justo en la proximidad de una quebrada que mira hacia el sur y no directamente al mar en el poniente. Para no perder aquella vista y protegerse del viento, se rotó parcialmente la orientación de la casa y se desplazó de manera que enfrente directamente al océano pacífico.
La altura máxima de la casa coincide con la de la vía pública. De esta forma la vista al mar no es interrumpida. La casa presenta un respeto por la horizontalidad que predomina en todos los niveles. Esto permite que el mar pueda ser visto desde el interior de la vivienda, así como también desde los espacios exteriores próximos a ésta.
La rampa de acceso funciona como un elemento independiente, que comunica la calle y el estacionamiento con el volumen de la casa. El requerimiento de un acceso por medio de la rampa resulta ser una oportunidad arquitectónica: Para que la inclinación de la rampa permita movilidad y libre recorrido fue necesario establecer un distanciamiento entre el volumen de la casa y la calle.
El acceso interior a la vivienda se encuentra en un nivel de altura medio; bajo el nivel de la calle y sobre el primer piso. Al entrar a la casa se encuentra el hall con un balcón que vincula visualmente este espacio con el living comedor de doble altura. El balcón permite, además, la vista abierta hacia la costa.
El material utilizado para la construcción de la casa es hormigón armado con moldaje de tabla. Esto con el fin de que aparezca la huella de la veta al momento de pintar blanco el material. Así se busca potenciar una atmósfera lumínica que predomine en todos los recintos al interior de la casa, complementado con lucarnas y patios de luz.
La cubierta es un espacio habitable, cuyo acceso se encuentra por detrás del muro de la fachada principal. Ésta se vincula al resto de la casa por medio de un recorrido constituido por la rampa y el hall. De esta forma el recorrido ascendente remata en la horizontalidad de la cubierta, desde donde se posibilita un lugar de contemplación al mar abierto.

The AV house is located in a steep slope. It is an uneven terrain next to a gorge that looks to the south, and it does not face the sea at the east. In order to not miss this view and to protect it from the wind, the house was partially rotated facing east, offering direct visual access to the Pacific Ocean.
The highest point of the house lines up with the street level and the parking space. This way the view to the sea is not blocked.
The house respect the horizontality of it’s environment that extends to each of its levels. This allows that the sea is at sight from inside of the house, as well as from the surrounding outdoor spaces.
The access ramp functions as an independent element that connects the street and the parking space with the house. The need of an access ramp constitutes an architectural opportunity: In order for the ramp inclination to offer suitable mobility and a smooth circulation, it was required to establish a separation between the house and the street.
The interior access to the house is at a mid-level height; below the street level and above the ground floor. Once inside the house there is an access hall with a balcony that looks towards the double height living room. The balcony also offers an open view to the coast.
The material used for the construction of the house is reinforced concrete with board-formed finish. The purpose of this choice of material is to make the marks visible of the goodgrain when painting it white. This choice of color aims to further the effect of a luminous atmosphere that extends to each enclosure within the house, complemented with a series of skylights and light courtyards.
The roof is a habitable space, wich is accessed from behind the wall of the main facade. It is connected to the rest of the house through a circulation route constituted by the ramp and the hall. This way the circulation is an ascendant path that rounded off with the horizontal line of the roof, which works as a spot to contemplate the sea.
